Gorp's Dream
Welcome to Pumpernickel Park, where the Brownies and the Bagels, the Tortillas and the Pitas respect one another despite their outward differences.
But then the crusty, cranky Sourdoughs move into this happy community and bring with them intolerance and prejudice. When the Sourdoughs have a big crisis, they’re lucky that Grandma and Poppa Rye don’t’ let hatred get in their way of being good neighbors.
Because of these “not-so-upper-crust” folks and a cast of characters that will surprise and amuse you, children are presented a gentle lesson in tolerance, diversity, and LOVE!
With Gorp’s guidance, everyone can realize that each of us can help to make ours a SWEETER, FRIENDLIER world, that a loving heart can exist no matter what the other ingredients.
Children will learn character education lessons on diversity, tolerance, respect, caring, citizenship, fire safety, anti-bullying and more. The book culminates with an anti-teasing and anti-bullying pledge for students to sign, making Gorp's empowering messages vital and interactive! Although the book is admittedly didactic, it's a lot of fun! Kids love it!!
